We grow from within.
You shed daily, particle by particle.
He moved to another land.
I feel you under my skin.
She is sniffing your microbiome perfume.
All our ancestors had dark skin.
Your beauty mask is soil.
A permeable border.

Skin Territories explores the largest human organ as a living territory of memory, affect, identity and negotiation. Seen as border, archive and symbolic surface, it reflects social, racial, aesthetic and personal tensions.

The project unfolds through research with the National Institute of Materials Physics, Mindlifeline – International Neuroscience Research Association and Minitremu Unlearning Space, including four public talks on migration and race, gender identity, skin biochemistry and sensory processes.

Taking shape as a contemporary art exhibition at Atelierele Scânteia, curated by Marian Palie, the project concludes with artistic perspectives on this human territory, placing skin within a network of artistic, social and ecological meanings.

This online encounter will be about constant growth and shedding — just like skin.

We’ll upload, at times, new inspiring resources or articles, and shed the oldest, the non-performative ones. Just as skin does.

Some political moles will witness the future or fade into last year’s news; some pores will let in fresh informational air.

The online membrane may host your contributions, too — feel free to join our cultural venture.

In this hybrid habitat, skin becomes a thinking surface — storing signals, leaking meanings, absorbing the frictions of a world in flux. This platform unfolds as a sensorial commons, shaped by the traces we leave on it.

Stay hydrated and critically aware.
